Birth to 3 years

Loving volunteers and staff care for your infants, toddlers, and two year-olds in our Kids’ Cove Nursery. The utmost attention is given to your infant’s needs. Toddlers and two year-olds enjoy playtime, music, stories, and snacks. Each member of our staff has been carefully screened and trained to work with children. Childcare is available at all ENCOUNTER services, as well as most special events and Celebrate Recovery. Here are a few things to know:

What To Bring
When packing a diaper bag for your child, please include the following items:

  • Two or three disposable diapers. No cloth diapers, please.
  •  Pacifier or other comfort items
  • A complete change of clothes
  • A bottle of milk, formula, juice, or water

Please label all personal items with your child's first and last name before arriving at your child's class.

Your Child's Health
For the protection of all children in our programs, we cannot accept a child with a runny nose, fresh cold (four days or less), fever, rash, persistent cough, diarrhea, or any other signs of illness.

When You Arrive
The nursery is located in the 400 Building, just off the main patio area. A leader will meet you at the check-in area to receive your child and any other necessary items. Please check in and note any information that will help in caring for your child such as feeding times, sleeping times, allergies, and special needs. We will give you a security number in case we need to contact you during the service. A leader will apply an adhesive name tag to your child's back with his or her name on it. You will be given a matching tag. This tag will need to be presented at the time of pick up. A child will not be released without presentation of the parents’ corresponding tag.

Snacks are provided for toddlers and two year-olds. We strive to meet the needs of each child by keeping accurate information in regards to allergies and special needs. Please inform the leader when you check in your child.

Saying Good-bye
After you have completed the check-in process, simply wave a quick good-bye and leave for the worship service. As you know, it is normal for little ones to cry when leaving a parent. This does not last long, and separation becomes easier over time. Our leaders will immediately try to create interest in a toy or activity and give assurance that you will return after the worship service is completed. If your child cries for a period longer than 10 minutes, we will page you.

Checking On Your Child
Feel free to check on your little one at any time during the worship service. However, we ask that you do so discreetly, trying not to let your child see you.

Picking-Up Your Child
Your child's leader will expect the same person to drop off and pick up each child unless special instructions are given at check-in. Please make sure that all your child's personal items have been returned to you before you leave the premises.

New Parent Room
If you would like to stay with your infant during ENCOUNTER, there is a room for new parents outside the entrance to the Auditorium for mothers to watch and listen to the service. Should you need to nurse your child during services, there is also a Nursing Mother's Room located in the Nursery with audio feed-in of the service.

Dedicated volunteers, willing to serve at least one ENCOUNTER service a month, are needed on a consistent basis. If you have a heart for God's precious little ones, please contact me. We look forward to caring for your children!
